Taurine is a kind of white sourish acicular crystal without smell. It is a kind of non-protein amino acid. It is widely consisted in organisms and also a kind of endogenous amino acid with special physiological function. It is originally found in cattle's bile.
In pharmaceuticals it have function of antiphlogistic, antalgic, antifebrile, reducing blood sugar, keeping normal ocular function; adjusting nerve conduct and fat assimilation. It also takes part in incretion activity, increases systole to improve immunity, which has sanitarian effect to different ages.
It find uses in the treatment of common cold, fever, neuralgia, tonsillitis, bronchitis, rheumatic arthritis, eye disease and medicine poisoning.
On the other hand, as food additives it is also widely added in milk, milk powder, juice, compound monosodium glutamate and soy products to increase nutrition; it can also be used as surfactant, activity dose, humid dose, emulsion and PH lenitive.
