Sorbitol is one kind of common polyol which be used firstly in the world. There are many natural sorbitol in seaweed and fruits (such as pear, apple, plum, etc). Our sorbitol is produced from crystalline dextrose through hydride process.

 

The commercial sorbitol include solid sorbitol and liquid sorbitol. Solid sorbitol include sorbitol crystal and solid powder. Crystalline sorbitol is a kind of colorless and flavourless crystal. The particle size is mesh 20-40. Sorbitol powder has mesh 40-60 and mesh 100.

 

According to the sorbitol content, liquid sorbitol is divided into non-crystalline sorbitol 70%, sorbitol C 70% and sorbitol S 70% 3 type. Sorbitol liquid is colorless,odorless,clear and sticky liquid syrup.

 

Because it’s molecular has not reducing group so the chemical property is stable and don’t imposed by acid and alkali, don’t be oxidized by air and don’t have maillard reaction with soluble amide. Sorbitol has better resistance than glucose. Pure sorbitol can keep original color till temperature 180. Sorbitol also has very good resistance on microbe than glucose. In generally it will not be imposed when dry solids reach 60% min. Because of so much excellent characters sorbitol find very popular usage in food, pharmaceutical, chemical commodity and chemical industry etc.
